Sheffield Steelers are close to announcing another signing for the new season, that of young French/Canadian Enniwun D’Sprate. There is a sticking point though, as new stricter wage cap regulations mean coach Dave Matsos has only offered D’Sprate a weekly contract of £2.50 and a packet of cheese & onion crisps, which the youngster is mulling over.
Steelers mouthpiece David Simms remained defiant, saying “Enniwun D’Sprate will sign for the Steelers, furthermore Enniwun D’Sprate supports the Steelers”.
Steelers did have some news on the signing front as D’Sprate’s brother Eyam put pen to paper after tough negotiations with Matsos, which saw him secure a contract after insisting on Cheesy Wotsits instead of Cheese & Onion.
It remains to be seen if older brother Muzbe, who plays for Montreal Muppets, will make it several D’Sprates at Broughton Lane for the new season. The Montreal Gazzete’s banner sports headline today read MUPPET MUZBE D’SPRATE TO SIGN FOR SHEFFIELD STEELERS.
