Let the speculation begin…..

It seems the Nottingham Panthers have pulled another signing out of left field after reports that Slovenian international defenceman Jurij Golicic (Stats) has joined the club from Olimpija Ljubljana in the Austrian League, however at the time of writing this has yet to be officially confirmed by the Panthers. With Corey LeClair poised to make his debut in Wednesday’s game against Basingstoke, speculation is rife as to who will be making way for the new arrivals, especially if this thread on The Cage is anything to go by!

So who is going to go? Here are the runners and riders in the Panthers Chop Stakes!

Rumun Ndur – Several rumours have been spread about Ndur’s likely departure, from a broken hand to a coaching job back in Canada. After missing the past two games he is the favourite to be making way, at the cost of leaving the team light on the enforcing front.

Johan Molin – Could be out for a while if he is revealed to have broken his cheekbone after a clash with Newcastle’s Dean Holland. Very, very unlikely that he will be cut unless the injury is so bad that it will keep him out for the season, however it would make sense to bring in a replacement for him while he’s injured as it wouldn’t disrupt the rest of the team too much.

Jade Galbraith – Would have been a likely choice a few weeks ago, but he has really picked up his game and is enjoying his best spell in a Panthers shirt and seems to be really enjoying the game. Unlikely

Brendan Cook – As Galbraith, would have been a serious option for the chop before Christmas, but he is another who has picked up his game and is once again looking the goalscoring threat he was at the start of the season. Again unlikely, but more likely than Galbraith I feel.

Dan Tessier – As we all know, Tessier is about to join the Canadian Police Force and went for an interview in December. Has his inauguration been brought forward? As I said on The Cage, if he is leaving I will openly weep!

Corey Neilson Very much an outside bet, but could the player/coach be looking at hanging up the skates for a permanent spell on the bench?

Kevin Bergin  Again if Bergin is the one to make way I will be shocked, but some have suggested they would like him to go! Personally I can’t see it as he is the best player we have for working the puck in the corners and not giving up on a lost cause.

So there you have it. Who goes, you don’t decide! That’s up to Neilson, and I don’t envy him one little bit.
