Mann is the Man

Well no-one was expecting that was they? No, not Sven Goran Eriksson’s incredible appointment at Notts County but the signing of Panthers final import, former NHLer Cameron Mann (Panthers Website, Corey Neilson BBC Interview). Mann comes to the Panthers with some serious pedigree, 93 games in the NHL for Boston & Nashville, several seasons in the AHL, a season in the Finnish Elite league and six seasons in the German DEL! This guy is the real deal, perhaps the best quality player to come to these shores since Theo Fleury turned out for Belfast.

The Panthers deserve a huge amount of credit for attracting a player of Mann’s calibre to Nottingham, we knew that the final import signing had to be something special but I think this shocked most of us. As expected the fans reaction has been hugely positive, a roster that was seen as ordinary by some is now looking a whole lot better with Mann’s addition. With Cardiff, Belfast and Coventry looking strong and Sheffield yet to complete their roster, the hope is for a close exciting season ahead.

Sounds like the Panthers have really pulled one out of the hat as a final signing, Jono. Well done to them. The expectations will be high!

Here are Mr Mann’s stats from TSN.ca. He didn’t play many games in the last few seasons, I hope it was not because of injury.
