Coming soon and other news…..

With the new season very much upon us The Cat’s Whiskers Season Preview will be on the site shortly. After my disastrous attempt at predicting the league last season (I said the FEC’s would finish sixth if you remember) I’ve decided to just stick to the Panthers this time and the other teams will be previewed by one of their own fans, who have kindly agreed to write a preview for us.

Another new feature of the site once the season starts will be ‘TCW Live’. Thanks to the wonderful new iPhone and Cover It Live, I’ll be updating scores and incidents from every Panthers game that I attend, home and away. It will be along the lines of Cardiff  forum The Inferno’s Match Night Live service. I’ll be hoping to trial TCW Live at the Hull game on Bank Holiday Monday and The Charity Shield game on 2nd September.

Talking of the Charity Shield, it was reported today that nearly 5,000 tickets have been sold for the game between Nottingham and FEC at the NIC. This will be a British record attendance for a pre-season game, however The Sheffield Star have managed to embellish the truth somewhat with the headline ‘Ticket record for Steelers’. Now, if the game was being played at the Tin Tent then they may have a point, but considering that the game is at the NIC and has been marketed by the Panthers then I think they’ve got a bit of a cheek to be honest. Still, only to be expected, but if they want to be us so much why didn’t they change their name to Panthers instead of FEC?
