Steelers v Panthers Preview

It’s the biggest rivalry in Narnia and it returns tomorrow night at the Sheffield Arena. The Steelers are hoping to get something resembling a crowd after some pretty shocking attendances so far, unfortunately they’ve brought out lots of offers for this game after people have paid full price for tickets! What a great way to appease your diminishing fan base!
As for the game itself, going on form this season you’d have to go for a Panthers win. However, as we all know the formbook generally goes out the window in these encounters! Personally I’m hoping that we continue the form which has made us the early pacesetters, and nothing would please me more that embarrassing the Steelers on their home ice, but as we all know the Steelers get themselves up for Panthers games, because some of their hierarchy consider these to be the only games that count! The other big question is will Bruce Richardson and Jason Hewitt have a fight and if they do will any punches actually be thrown! If not, will Hewitt still skate away with arms aloft claiming a victory? (Any port in a storm I guess!)
Looking at the teams so far this season, the Panthers have the edge in all areas, scoring 22 goals in 6 games, compared to Steelers 17 in 5. In defence panthers have conceded 16 goals in 6 compared to Steelers 18 in 5, while Kevin St. Pierre is enjoying a 92.4% save average compared to Kevin Reiter’s 89.1%. Personally I think Panthers will be too strong for the Steelers, who are likely to be without the injured Scott Basiuk, which will weaken their defence and weaken their attack as Rod Sarich is likely to cover. Panthers are expected to be at full strength with Cameron Mann returning from illness.

Unfortunately there will be no TCW Live coverage from the game, however there will be live updates from Big Dave Steeler at Steel Night Live.
