Return of the Saint

Do-do-do-do-do-do-doooooooooooooo

Panthers have moved swiftly to fill the import netminding slot which has been temporarily vacated by injured Craig Kowalski, and it is a familiar face that will be taking up the mantle as Kevin St. Pierre returns on a short term contract.
Great move by the club in my opinion. It could have been a nightmare trying to get a replacement to fill Kowalski’s skates, especially when you consider the superb form he’s been in recently, so to capture a netminder familiar to the league, rink and most importantly the team will prove to be beneficial.
Coach Corey Neilson said “After the weekend we went through this is great news. We all know what to expect from Kevin. He knows our rink and the opponents’ rinks. He’s ready to jump straight into the line-up and he’s itching to get back here. He’s made a commitment to provide cover until Killer is fit again, it was a big ask given he is leaving his family in North America at this time of year but he didn’t hesitate. He was a class act, is a class act and I’m sure he will be a class act on the ice for us again.”
With the greatest respect to Dan Green, I don’t feel he could have lead us through the next two months and kept us in the title race. He is a great back up netminder but I don’t think he has it in him to be a regular starter at Elite League level just yet. Neilson said of Green “I can’t say enough about back-up Dan Green he did everything I expected of him over the weekend and certainly wasn’t to blame for points dropped.”
Panthers are to be applauded for showing ambition and stumping up the cash to get KSP over to the UK. Let’s face it it won’t have been cheap to get him to leave his family at this time of year, so fair play to the management for making it happen. Some may see that as arrogant, but frankly I don’t care!
