Enough is Enough

I’ve been wanting to write something for a few weeks as yet again a Panthers season took a sharp nose-dive once the Yuletide was here, but I’ve refrained…….until now!

This Panthers side, with a few exceptions, is a complete and utter shambles. Yet again they have conspired to completely destroy a season which started so well. One hundred fans travelled up to support the team on a Wednesday night in January, if only the team showed half the effort and commitment that the supporters do!
Of course tonight we were beaten by the Newcastle Vipers, that’s right, the Newcastle Vipers who are being propped up by the league, the Newcastle Vipers who have a grand total of six imports, the Newcastle Vipers who could give our overpaid bunch of primadonna’s a lesson in effort, guts, commitment and playing for the shirt.
So what do we get on the main Panthers website? An apology? Some humility perhaps? no, we get this, yet more excuses, this time sticky paint! Still look at the title, “All to play for in the cup” in other words “Never mind we were beaten by a team containing six imports, we’ll get a bumper crowd on Sunday because we’re only one goal behind! Ka-ching!”

We’ve seen this malaise in many of the previous seasons, but I don’t think I’ve ever witnessed the wheels falling off as spectacularly as they have this season. For a club with the resources that we boast to have only properly competed for the league title once in the last ten seasons is, quite frankly, pathetic. Thing is I can’t see it changing, too many of our so-called ‘superstars’ are too happy to pick up their pay packets, pick up a bunny or two, have a few drinks and metaphorically stick two fingers up at the people who pay their wages, the fans.
However the players have to be picked by the coach and it is quite clear to me that ours isn’t up to much. Never mind the one-dimensional way of playing, the arrogance and the excuses when we lose, how many times does he give the opposition their team talk for them? Take tonight’s game and this gem from today’s Evening Post “This Newcastle game looks like a formality, with all due respect to them. Obviously we want to give ourselves a healthy lead before Sunday’s second leg”. I bet Danny Stewart had that pinned up on the Locker Room door! Corey, it’s time to go, you’ve had three years and learnt nothing. We are further away from winning the league than we ever were. OK, we may well qualify for the Cup Final on Sunday and we may win it. All that will do is paper over some gaping cracks.

It’s got to the point where I am seriously thinking about not re-newing my season ticket, something that was unthinkable a few short months ago. The players I pay to watch don’t seem to care so why should I? I’m sure there are other pastimes and establishments that will welcome the considerable amount I pay to follow the Panthers each season.

In conclusion enough really is enough, Mr Black needs to find a big broom and sweep away the mediocrity and dead wood within the Nottingham Panthers and replace them with people who do not accept second best before next season, otherwise this ‘Groundhog Day’ will continue, and fans may not stick around to see it.

Totally agree with you. Corey’s had long enough to sort a winning team out. Every season he fails he hits the reset button on the entire team, resulting in hit and miss players being signed and not building on what good they had the previous season. Well done to Newcastle Vipers for pulling something amazing out of game, which with respect, Panthers should breezed though. Can’t see Corey staying next season, fans are getting tired of him – and going by the attitude of some of the players, so are they.

I completely agree I have been saying for months that Corey needs to go before we turn into a joke and that’s not too far away. Im not sure if you heard the latest post made on the Panthers radio but the list of it was that the powers that be have told the players “win or be fired”
