All good things….

What a game to end on! For those that don’t know last night’s Panthers v Clan game was the last ever covered by TCW Live. There are many reasons why the service is stopping, the main one being that I’m just missing too much of the game while I’m inputting information.
From my own personal point of view I’ve been very proud of how the service has grown over the past three seasons and how fellow fans wanted to be part of the coverage, it really was a team effort.

A few thank yous. Firstly to my co-commentator Iain Dilley, without whom the service would never have lasted as long as it has. He has been a great support and I thank him for that.
Secondly to Adrian Spencer. He’s very rarely at games these days but has gone to some extraordinary lengths in order to put a scoreboard on the coverage, including once doing it from the back of a car on a netbook!
I’d also like to thank Greg Crooks, Luke Stratford & Tom Martin who have also been part of the coverage.
Finally I’d like to thank Helen Bolton, Antoine Marie-Jeanne, Geraldine Ellis & Aleta for helping out with texts & the scoreboard.

Here are some of the stats from three seasons of coverage:

Total games covered: 184
Total number of viewers: 162,214
Average number of viewers per game: 882
Replays watched: 34,042
Average replays per game: 185

So that’s it, all over. Thanks to everyone who watched and supported the coverage, if anyone is mad enough to do their own coverage from next season I’d be happy offer advice.

To finish with the words of the late Kenneth Wolstenholme, they think it’s all over, it is now.

Many thanks for your coverage. you have made it more bearable when we haven’t been able to attend a match. You surely will be missed :~(

Thanks again Jono and the team for all the coverage over the last few years, very much appreciated from everyone who followed you I’m sure, especially the Skegness Panther lol

Jono – There has been many a time when due to business demands (being a professional speaker involves a lot of international travel and hotels) I havent been able to attend a game in person – and TCW coverage has mant such a lot. Your coverage has been superb and thank you for all of your (and the rest of the teams) hard work. Thank you and enjoy the games going forward. Many thanks Simon

Why dont you let someone els take over. It looks to me and others that, just because you dont want to do it anymore no one can do it. Your not the great Jono you think you are.

Where did I say that? I’ve got absolutely no problem with anyone else doing another live score service.

As for your last comment, I’ll treat it with the contempt it deserves.

      David
Come on David – Jono has never said such a thing and indeed has stated previously that he hopes that someone will take it over. Lets thank him (and the rest of the team) for their efforts and keep our fingers crossed that someone else will go to the trouble of providing the service.

      David, grow up!!
Jono doesn’t think he is great, he just knows he provided a service that THOUSANDS of other hockey fans told him week after week was a great service. Those people are the ones who tell him he is great.
I have watched Jono updating TCW Live at many games and I see how much time and energy he devoted to ensure that every important detail was included in his coverage. He probably missed more of the game than he actually watched. When you were celebrating game winning, Cup winning and Play off winning goals, Jono was updating TCW Live! I have provided TCW Live, with a few comments, texting from games and to be honest I don’t know how Jono and Iain actually kept up with the game to update the way they did.

David, it isn’t difficult to set up an update service of your own through Cover It Live, so why I don’t you check it out for next season. There is a gap to fill. You could then become the person that everyone thinks is great. You have to go a long way to improve what we all think of you at the moment.
But just stop to think, why was there only one update service for Panthers games?

David, I will look forward to seeing your coverage from September 2012!
But, in all honesty, I don’t think you would last for more than 3 periods never mind 3 seasons.

Jono, I suspect those who criticise loudest from behind their keyboards would go very quiet indeed if asked to actually get up off their backsides and do something for their follow hockey fans.
It is a very poor effort when all you get for your dedication is abuse and personal digs.
If someone thinks they can run a similar service, go ahead and do it, instead of criticising Jono for stopping doing it.

As we spend nearly all of the season out of the country, TCW have been a
godsend to us, so thank you all for all the hard work you have put in each game night. TKW will be surely missed as will all the articles, you were always a good read. Thanks again bye Pete&Jen

I’m sure David’s reply up there is the sort of thing that’s led to you hanging up your keyboard.

for me, and so many others, we’ve loved every moment and been hugely grateful of the efforts of all of you who’ve been responsible for this amazing service.
