UK Forum All-Stars Weekend – Sheffield 2013 Preview

This coming weekend the sixth annual UK Forum All-Stars ice hockey tournament will be taking place at Ice Sheffield. For those that don’t know, six teams of mixed abilities represent six different charities which this year are Breast Cancer Care, Prostate Cancer UK, Help For Heroes, St. Luke’s Hospice, Dreams Come True & The Sheffield Children’s Hospital.

Fund raising this year has been quite outstanding with last year’s total of £14,000 raised already beaten before the weekend has even started. In fact at the time of writing the total stands at over £18,000, an astonishing achievement. The weekend has also received generous support from title sponsors car dealership franchise JCT600 as well as further sponsorship from PuckStop.com, Furniture Village, Nekoti & Blue Monkey Consulting

The weekend kicks off with a race night and auction at the Royal Standard pub in Sheffield on Friday evening, starting at 7pm. There are several items for auction and you can bid on them now by going to this link.
The hockey action starts at 2pm on Saturday & Sunday on the main pad at Ice Sheffield as all six teams play a round robin tournament format to decide the overall winner (Fixtures). In all there will be nine games taking place each day from 2pm -7pm. A weekend pass for adults costs just £5 with a day pass costing £3. Children can get in for a small donation.

As well as the hockey there will be a raffle & merchandise stalls at the venue, while a party will take place at Walkabout Sheffield on the Saturday night (Over 18’s only, entrance with admission ticket).

The whole ethos of the weekend is about having fun, making friends old & new and raising as much money as possible for the charities involved. If you would like to donate to a particular charity, please follow the charities links at the top of the article and click on the ‘Make a Donation’ button on the page.

This year I will be representing Breast Cancer Care (or ‘Team Boobies’ as we are affectionately known). I am still short of my overall sponsorship target so would really appreciate some help getting over the line.
You can sponsor me in two ways, either go to my Just Giving page or text JBBC72 £5 to 70070 from any mobile phone.

If you’re at a loose end this weekend why not come along, get a hockey fix and help six fantastic charities along the way.
