Oh D’Amour

D'AmourPanthers recent signing spree continues at pace with the announcement that defenceman Dominic D’Amour will be joining the club (Panthers website release, Evening Post report). D’Amour, a former 3rd round draft pick of the Toronto Maple Leafs, is a tough six foot three inch tall blueliner who won’t be afraid to drop the gloves but is far too valuable to take on the enforcing role.

When I heard the news this morning I thought his name sounded familiar, looking back I remember he was rumoured to be joining Coventry Blaze in the middle of last season but the move never came off. Blaze’s loss is definitely our gain, D’Amour is the sort of blue liner we’ve needed since Briane Thompson left the club, tough, uncompromising and hard as bloody nails! As you may have guessed I’m really happy with this signing, his pedigree tells me he’ll be a quality player in this league, thankfully that quality will be with us.

Attention now turns to the three remaining import slots to fill, two wingers and a centre. No concrete rumours are surfacing at the moment, however I personally would like to see an enforcer in the mix, someone along the lines of Brett Clouthier would be perfect.
